Know the Story. Find Your Place. Live the Mission.

Origins is a formation course for newcomers and long-time Tablers alike.

If you’re newer to The Table, Origins is a way to become rooted in the biblical story, our common life, and the mission we share.

If you’ve been around for some time, it’s an opportunity to revisit these foundations, deepen your formation, and reconnect with the kind of people we are seeking to become together.

Fall 2026: September 15 – November 30

What is Origins?

Christian faith is more than a set of beliefs or a collection of religious activities. It is learning to understand our lives within God’s story, becoming part of a people formed by the gospel, and discovering how we are being sent into God’s world.

Origins explores three big questions:

What story are we living in?
What kind of people does the gospel create?
What are we being formed and sent to do?

We explore those questions through three movements.

GOSPEL FORMED

Know the Story.

We begin with the biblical story of creation, human vocation and brokenness, and follow that story through Israel to Jesus, the gift of the Spirit, and the promise of new creation.

The gospel is not simply religious advice about how to live. It is the announcement of what God has done — and is doing — in Jesus Christ.

We learn to locate our own lives within that story.

FAMILY

Find Your Place.

The gospel does not simply reconcile isolated individuals to God. God creates a people.

We explore what it means to belong to the family of God: a reconciled community learning to practise hospitality, forgiveness, worship, shared meals, mutual care and faithful participation.

We’ll also consider how the particular common life of The Table — including Big Table, Neighbourhood Tables and shared formation — helps us practise that belonging.

We learn not simply to attend church, but to share a common life.

PRIESTS ON MISSION

Live the Mission.

From creation through Israel and into the life of the Church, God forms a people to bear his presence in the world.

We explore humanity as God’s image-bearers, Israel as a kingdom of priests, Jesus as the one in whom God comes to dwell with us, and the Spirit who forms and sends the Church.

Mission is therefore bigger than church programs. It includes the homes, neighbourhoods, workplaces, relationships and communities where God has already placed us.

We ask:

Where has God placed me?
What has God entrusted to me?
How might I participate in God’s mission there?

How Origins Works

Origins is made up of three modules, each following the same rhythm:

Two Tuesday Origins gatherings
We explore the biblical and theological foundations together.

One Monday Kaleo capstone
The Origins group joins the wider Table leadership community to gather up what we’ve learned and explore how it shapes our life together.

This gives Origins its basic movement:

Formed by the Gospel → Belonging to a People → Sent for the Sake of the World

Who Should Come?

Origins is intentionally for both newcomers and established Tablers.

You might find Origins particularly helpful if:

  • you’re new to The Table and want to understand what shapes our common life;

  • you’ve been attending but are wondering what deeper belonging or participation might look like;

  • you want a stronger biblical and theological foundation for Christian life;

  • you’ve been part of The Table for years and would benefit from revisiting the foundations of our life and mission together.

You do not need to have everything figured out before coming.
