When in Victoria, do as the Victorians do! Many a local and visitor has hiked Mount Doug to catch the sunset from the lookout. We’ll meet at the parking lot (the one off of Shelbourne Street (see attached map!) and hike up to the lookout (around 40 minutes including some breaks) in time to see the sunset. This is a moderate/difficult hike with some minor scrambling. Please wear your hiking boots or good walking shoes, and bring a headlamp or flashlight for the hike down (we’ll hike down on the road, Churchill Drive, at the end of the night).

If you prefer to skip the hike, there is a parking lot at the top of Mount Douglas (follow Churchill Drive up from the parking lot), and you can meet us at the lookout around 7:45pm. The parking lot is open until 11pm.

Trail mix provided, and not just your standard GORP! (dark chocolate-covered dried mangoes and acai blueberries, anyone?)

Time: 6:30PM (We’ll start hiking promptly at 6:45, so please do not be late!)

Place: Mount Douglas Parking lot (off Shelbourne Street, right where Shelbourne and Cedar Hill meet). This parking lot is sometimes full, but there is plenty of overflow parking at Mount Douglas Beach, right down the road. Please plan for a bit of extra time to get to the trailhead!
